Conference Scholarships: The Albert Shanker National/International Conference

Overview

The Teacher Center of Central Westchester WILL OFFER SCHOLARSHIPS TO consortium teachers who wish to attend a national/INTERNATIONAL conference of their choice. This scholarship was established to recognize the outstanding contribution Albert Shanker has made to education and the professionalism of teaching. 

 

Terms of Agreement:

It is the responsibility of the scholarship winner to register for the conference and make all travel and hotel reservations. The Teacher Center will reimburse the conference scholarship winner for his/her expenses up to a maximum of $2,000 (INDIVIDUAL) OR $5,000 (GROUP).

The national/international conference scholarship winners will keep a reflective journal of the experience and provide a written report to their District Offices and the Teacher Center.  In addition, the scholarship winners will develop a plan to share their experiences with their colleagues within their school districts and other school districts within the consortium.

 

Application Procedures:

Teachers interested in applying need to select a national/international conference to attend in the current school year.  Teachers may wish to contact their professional associations or check Education Week for listings of national conferences. Teachers must complete the application below. There will be two cycles per year for this scholarship opportunity.  The signed original application and five (5) copies of the completed application must be submitted by the published deadlines.  Please see Application Form below for dates.
