Participation Policies

Policies for Classes

The Teacher Center of Central Westchester and The Central Westchester Teacher Institute

  1. Participation: Participants are required to have computer access and a working email for the class’s duration and actively participate by completing all assignments by the due dates. Participants must also read all assigned texts and videos and be prepared to post professional and respectful comments and provide constructive feedback. If a participant misses a synchronous session, the instructor will provide a make-up assignment that must be completed to receive full credit hours.
  2. Assignments:  All assignments, projects, and posts must meet the specific criteria outlined in an assignment. All reflections/comments must be at least eight sentences in length and must cite at least two pieces of evidence from the video/article/text to support your response.
  3. Group work: All group work must reflect equal and fair collaboration among the participants. Each member must meet each assigned task promptly. Communication must be professional and respectful.
  4. Recommendation for in-service credit: Time spent on the assignments and the quality should reflect the hours/credits given for the course (3 credits=45hrs, two credits=30hrs, one credit=15hrs). Participants must meet all of the above policies to receive full credit for the time. Time spent on assignments for online course must reflect seven hours of required asynchronous time.
  5. Contact: All questions, comments, or concerns can be posted in the discussion section of the assignment or emailed to the instructor at the email provided.
  6. Reflections:   All participants are required to complete an evaluation of the course in Frontline.
  7. Grading: By the course end date, all participants must submit all required classwork. If you need an extension, please email the instructor prior to the course end date. Once all coursework is completed and the course evaluation has been submitted, the instructor will record the course status in MLP as Passed/Completed or Failed/Incomplete.

CTLE certificates will be issued within three weeks after the participant has successfully completed the course and submitted all assignments.
